Answer

We have two options for printing on campus, Papercut Client and Web Print.  To use the paper cut client, download the driver for either mac or windows from the computing services website, http://sites.allegheny.edu/computingservices/printing , the driver is found on the right hand column under “public printers”.  Once installed, the driver will allow you to print to “public printers” from most applications.  When the driver is running, you will have the option to choose to print to “public printers” under the print menu of the application.  You will then be prompted for your Allegheny username and password.

Once your item is sent to the “public printers” cloud server,  all you have to do is walk up to one of the public printers (listed on the computing services webpage) and scan your ID card (in the absence of an ID card, you can type in your info to the printer).  Print jobs will stay on the “public printers” cloud server for 24 hours, or until you scan your card and print them.

You can click here for a tutorial from Computing Services that describes how to print at Allegheny. See the section titled 'Printing Using Personal Computers' for instructions on how to download, install, and use the PaperCut client to print from your personal computer to public printers in Pelletier Library, the Campus Center, Steffee Hall, and Murray Hall room 116.

For more information, you can contact Computing Services, or ask a Technology Consultant during Learning Commons consultation drop-in hours. if you have any questions.
